At the Council Meeting held in Berlin on June 17, 2007, of European Ceramic Association (ECerS) which was founded in 1987 for coordinating and guiding the activities in the field of ceramics (science, technology, education, design) and the Secretariat of which is in Belgium, Vice-President of Turkish Ceramic Association, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, was elected as European Ceramic Association (ECerS) President unanimously for years 2009-2011.
European Ceramic Association has more than 6000 members from 24 European countries. Each country is represented by 2 members designated by their national associations at the Council of the Association. There are Education, R&D, Communication, Magazine, Industry and Art-Design Work Groups. European Ceramic Association Conventions held biennially attended by approximately 1000 scientists and technologists and Journal of the European Ceramic Society (JECS) which has one of the highest impact factors in the field of ceramic science and technology are among its most important activities.
So far, scientists from Holland, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, UK and Belgium have served as presidents of the Association which has 24 countries as members. The Association, which has its headquarters in Belgium, will have a president from a non-EU member country for the first time. |
